The Story of Topher James

It was about 2007 and Topher James was faced with a difficult decision. Choose a stable corporate job, move up the ladder and risk losing all of his passion for art or choose a much more difficult path of being a professional musician. Easy to look back and say it was the right decision, but the path of taking music on full time is not for the weak of heart. Topher James made a bold decision that day to turn away from the trappings of money and stability to explore what it would be like to play music full time. The goal for James was to make music not just a means of making a living, but to fully integrate it into his way of life. Throughout his upbringing, Topher found a common thread in the music he loved - a captivating melody, powerful emotional depth, and soulful essence. Drawing inspiration from legendary artists like Sam Cooke and Donny Hathaway, as well as contemporary R&B and Gospel talents such as PJ Morton and Emily King, Topher swiftly assembled a band.

In 2014, Topher James and Biscuit Brigade emerged, gradually transforming into a formidable soul band that captivates audiences with their rich vocal harmonies and infectious guitar riffs. Their debut EP, "Art & Soul," was recorded in southern Ohio under the guidance of Josh Antonuccio, receiving rave reviews. GroundSounds.com hailed it as a "stellar 6-track EP, brimming with funky guitar licks, smooth horn section melodies, and lyrically rich storytelling." Meanwhile, IAmTunedUp.com described it as a "straightforward, classy album that accurately reflects Topher James' personality - confident, opinionated, and with a penchant for the finer things in life.
